Junior Cougars Accepted Into NYFL


On January 4th, the Stoney Creek Junior Cougars (SCJC) were officially voted in as a participating association of the Northern Youth Football League (NYFL). Dr. Brad Semp, SCJC board president, attended the January 2016 league board meeting at which the Junior Cougars requested entry to the league. After a favorable vote, the Junior Cougars entry into the NYFL was approved.

SCJC will begin immediately to participate as a full member association although no league voting rights will be granted until January 2017. Junior Cougar registration opens on January 10th with summer camp activities scheduled for the summer of 2016. The 2016 season officially commences on Monday, August 1st.

The NYFL is recognized as one of the premier youth football & cheer conferences in Southeast Michigan as its member organizations align with some of the most competitive high schools in the Oakland Activities Association (OAA). The Stoney Creek Junior Cougars will join other member associations of the NYFL that include: Bloomfield Hills, Brandon, Clarkston,  Lake Orion, Lapeer, Oxford, Rochester (Avondale) & Waterford.
